Team USA 2017 - Colchester, England

The 2017 Team Worlds event was held in Colchester, England. With a skeleton team of only six players (Above, L to R: Ashlee Harris, Zac Ruziska , Dan Laitsch, Mark Kilmer, Kyle Kelly and Kevin Sheehan Jr.) and four days of intense competition, reigning champions USA started the round robin with a 4-4 draw with hosts Great Britain. By the end of Round 1 the top three of Finland, Estonia and Canada were joined by New Zealand. In WFDF tradition, the top seeds were given first choice for Round 2 from teams placed 5 to 8. Finland chose Czechoslovakia, Estonia then picked Great Britain after beating them 7-1 in the pool match, Canada chose USA leaving New Zealand to play France.

Round 2 was tough shot doubles and two single match play games with the masters and juniors playing singles. The doubles were the third seeded open player and the woman player; the other being the top two open players. The controversial tough shot round is where opponents choose the worst of two shots for players to complete next - but when a hole is complete by holing out, the hole is over. Unfortunately this is the round where the team was relegated to a forth place finish, losing to the Canadians, who went on to win the tournament, 6-2.
